The white half moon under our nails is also known as lunula and it is very important part of our bodies. It is extremely sensitive and some experts claim that its size can be a cause of many diseases. If the half moon is missing or it is decreased it can lead to illnesses.
Lunula is a Latin word which means ‘small moon’ and it is visible part of the root of the nail. It is most visible on the thumb. White lunula is apparent because the fifth basal layer of the epidermis lies in blood cells underneath.
The missing of the lunula can cause the following:
1.If it is very small or it is missing, it means that you have problems with the intestines, pancreas, liver and the reproductive organs with the women.
2.The absence of lunula on the middle finger indicates a problem with blood pressure.
3.Small or non-existent lunula of the fourth finger could be a sign of problems with the thyroid.
